Dr. Thomas Gerbracht

Over 28 years ago, the accomplished German entrepreneur, Dr. Thomas Gerbracht, set foot in Sri Lanka as a tourist. Captivated not only by the country’s allure but also by its untapped potential, he envisioned a remarkable future. Taking a bold step, he divested his business interests in Germany and embarked on a mission to cultivate organically grown fruits and coconuts on a quaint plantation in southern Sri Lanka.

What began as a singular vision has evolved into a thriving multinational organic food enterprise spanning four Asian countries. Driven by unwavering commitment, the business now employs over 500 individuals, facilitating the export of organic produce from thousands of rural farmers to markets across America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. Following Dr. Thomas Gerbracht’s visionary path, Tahoma Coconut Products thrives as a legacy of excellence. The spirit of Tahoma, overlooked by him with pride, continues to uphold the tradition of producing exceptional coconut products.

CHAMAL PRASANNA

Managing Director / CEO,

Prasanna, an expert in the food industry, with over 15 years in food manufacturing, Prasanna boasts more than 12 years of experience in senior management roles. Since joining Tahoma Coconut Products (Pvt) Ltd., he has played a pivotal role in its transformation, becoming a Board of Directors member and currently serving as the Managing Director and CEO. Prasanna holds a degree in Food Science & Technology from Wayamba University, Sri Lanka, graduating in 2007.

Under Prasanna’s leadership, Tahoma achieved a significant milestone in 2021 by acquiring “Green Palm Mills,” a traditional desiccated coconut manufacturing plant. Prasanna spearheaded its transformation into a state-of-the-art facility, positioning Tahoma as a leading and modern food manufacturing plant globally. His vision and expertise continue to guide Tahoma towards excellence in the production of desiccated coconut and virgin coconut oil for the global market.

Philip Alllbrecht

DIRECTOR

Philip, a distinguished leader in the food industry, holds a Master's degree in Food Science and Business Administration. With over 20 years of extensive experience, he has demonstrated unwavering dedication to leadership and management.

Philip has served in several influential roles, including Managing Director and Board Member, showcasing his exceptional expertise in steering organizations toward success. His profound knowledge of food science and business administration is a testament to his commitment to excellence in the dynamic realm of the food industry.

Mahesh Karunarathne

FINANCE DIRECTOR

Mahesh, armed with a specialized degree in accountancy from the University of Ruhuna, Sri Lanka, and having been a past finalist of CA Sri Lanka, embarked on a professional journey in 2006 as an audit trainee at the renowned audit firm, KPMG. After eight years, he transitioned to become a finance consultant in 2014.

In the same year, Mahesh joined the commercial sector as a Finance Manager, bringing his financial expertise to the forefront. Recognizing his contributions, he was appointed to the Tahoma board as Finance Director, where he continues to play a vital role in steering the financial success and growth of the company.
